Hello, I am asking for advice about my dog. She is a border collie rescue, about 10 years old. We got three chickens last fall. We live in the suburbs, and have a reinforced prefab coop with an extended run built around it using wire fencing. This is inside our fenced yard.
My problem is that my dog is scared of the chicken noises. She cries loudly when we go out the back door and every night when we go lock them in. She no longer wants to go outside. When we take her out back on her leash, she cries and tries to run inside or sometimes up to the coop, then dashes for inside. She also has a strong herding instinct and prey drive.
Any advice would be appreciated. We are thinking about adding a wooden fence around their run area as well. Thanks!

) that goes over how to train your dog not to bark or be reactive to noises, such as chickens, using positive reinforcement. I think it would work very well for your situation; it will just take some time and patience. Her dogs are border collies too! I wish you luck with your border collie!
