I have 6 11 week old chicks. I have 4 7 week old chicks. One of the 7 week olds is huge. She totally outgrew the crate with the other 3. I decided she needed to go in with the older chicks. She has been in there for 4 days now. I put her on the roost every night with the older ones, they snuggle up all nice and cozy, during the day they pick on her a bit, decreases more every day, but she paces back and forth in the wire coop in front of her old crate all day.
She's eating and drinking. When the others take their nap during the day she moves away from them and lays down. Then she's up pacing again.
I covered the side of the crate so she can't see her former mates.
Are they ever going to accept each other? I feel badly she is stressed, but until my big coop is finished, I don't know what else to do.
Anyone have any ideas?
Much appreciated.

She has bonded with the younger chicks and wants back with them. It's not so much the older chicks accepting HER as her accepting THEM. Isn't there any way you can arrange for her to be back with her "family"? Or at least move them from her view. As long as she can see them, she's going to try to get back with them. Good luck!
