Stringy stuff attached to navel

I have a baby chick that his body was breach, so he pipped through the middle of the shell and could only reach one inch. I helped him by taking tweezers and zipping the shell open and then left him to push out. Now it seems he may not have absorbed everything through his navel. He has stringy stuff attached, so what should I do?

Does he stand up and look alive?

Yes, he stands up and is alive. He just has a little stringy piece attached to his navel and a glob of somthing at the end that he carries around with him.

Let it dry out, it should be fine. Is he less than 48 hours old?

Once its dry you can trim it a bit, but not too close to the body. It will fall off on its own in a week or so.
