HELP! DAY 2 of poor hen struggling to push out an egg, i think? To the point that she is almost prolapsing. She lets out a "pained" bawk as she pushes. Yesterday there was blood but not today. Yesterday i tried a warm bathe but she didnt like it. So i did the hair dryer for 15 minute increments. She ate a little bit which allowed a tiny bit of the calcium pill into her. I put her in a dog crate with food and water overnight. No change. I did notice a few small poops. Today i did a few rounds of warm wet towel around abdomen, some water with calcium crushed up in it thru a syringe, a tiny bit of food. Again in the dog crate. I have pics....beware they are ugly...
The pics may all look the same but i was trying to get her when she was at the prolapse point. PLEASE HELP!!! SHES MY NUGGET!!!

Sorry about your hen. How old is she? Where are you located? Cannyou insert a finger into her vent and check if it is an egg with a shell or something soft? Besides an egg, she might have a lash egg, or a tumor. Has she been passing any droppings at all since she has been egg bound? Can you also try to give her a half of a tTums or calcium tablet again. Make sure that she is drinking water as well. If she is not weak or in danger, you could also repeat the warm bath or place her on a warm wet towel in a warm room.

She is 2 years old. We are in Connecticut. I probably could insert a finger except when I do touch the area she gets a bit jumpy. However, I have tried as best I can with out inserting a finger to feel around for an egg. I have felt nothing. I noticed some poop in her crate today when I took her out. I will repeat the warm wet towel therapy tomorrow.

Pictures of the droppings can be helpful. Most chickens cannot poop if they are truly eggbound. But something is seriously wrong with her vent area. I will tag @casportpony for any advice. I have not had an eggbound hen before, but I think that I would try to take her to a vet if possible.

Update.....she is doing the same. No change. Except....what looks to be hardboiled egg consistency passing from her vent. So that would mean the egg broke inside her? What are my options, Now? Today I tried again to bathe her but she flipped out. I applied coconut oil to the vent. I syringe fed her water with calcium pill. I have her in a dog crate inside the coop. As much as I don't want to think about it but, she's going to die, huh? She is the lowest in the pecking order so I truly believe that malnutrition, lack of nest box availability all attributed to this. As much As I made sure shewastaaken care of....it didn't matter. So what's my next step??

If she passed something that resembled hardboiled egg, that sounds like she had a lash egg stuck in her vent. I just looked at your newer thread,
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/day-3-of-egg-bound-hen.1416373/
and her vent looks slightly prolapsed, but much less swollen than before. It is good that she is now pooping. That is a sign that she is not eggbound, which is good. For now, I would keep her vent cleaned up whenever she poops, and keep the prolapse tissue moist with oil. A daily warm soak would be good for her, and might help the prolapse go back inside. You could try to push it back in when you see it out. They can come back out for a few days. You are doing a good job.

Thank you.....this has been a harrowing experience. When she pushes hard she does begin to prolapse however it all goes back in. I've been soaking her vent with coconut oil so when she does do that strong push the friction is a little less irritating. Did you notice the hard boiled egg looking stuff in the picture? When I try to remove it, it's very dry and stuck to her "insides". How long can this last??? Thank you for your help. I've had no one help me but you!!!!

I would just keep trying to remove the egg material a little at a time. Soaking her once a day in warm Epsom salts or dishsoap and water, then trying to remove the material that you can see or feel.
