Stupid breeds?

I have a flock of 3 barred rocks and 5 black australorps. The barred rocks have had their bird brained moments, but the australorps are amazingly stupid. They’re so dumb I actually worry that they’ll get themselves seriously injured or killed. Two of them (or maybe the same one twice) managed to fly out of my electric fence. To get back into the run, they tried to go straight through the fence and got caught in it, a fence they know will shock them when they touch it. Trying to go through an obstacle instead of over or around it is a common stupid mistake they make, even in cases where they’re very experienced with going around said obstacle. The rooster is a bit smarter, but still.

Are all black australorps this dumb or did my hatchery just have a strong strain of stupid genes in their birds for some reason?

This is funny and not funny at the same time. I’ve never had experience with this breed but I know someone that does have these breeds and they are pretty smart.

The result of breeding for nothing more than egg production. Gamefowl are totally different being selectively bred for 1000s of years its amazing how smart they are. Production breeds are just that something that lays an egg. Dont expect anything much more
