Hi, I'm from NC and just started raising chickens. I got started when my son thought it would be fun to give me 12 for Easter. He thought since I am retired that I needed a new hobby. At first I wasn't pleased but I've come to enjoy it. I now have seventeen hens and I one over the top rooster who I have named Donald since he struts around with those beautiful gold feathers around the top of his head. Someone gave me 5 older hens and one now has bumbkefoot. I was surfing the web to see if I could find out what was wrong and found this site. I have moved her to a dog crate away from the others. There were quite a few of her feathers in the pen and I think they may have been pecking her. Along with my chicks I have 5 dogs and 2 cats. I am going to need lots of advice.

Using the search box put in "Bumblefoot," and info will pop up. Besides advice you are going to need a very secure coop and run. It's best if the chickens NEVER meet the dogs and cats. Chickens have never killed a dog or cat but, the opposite is not true.
