Hi everyone,

Have any of you had success with the crazy-wavy guy deterring hawks? If so, what color do you have? What height is your crazy-wavy guy?

We have Cooper’s hawks and Red Tailed hawks on our property in Middle Tennessee. We lost one if our ladies to a Red Tailed Hawk in January, and had a near attack by a Cooper’s Hawk this afternoon.

Any suggestions regarding the crazy-wavy guy are appreciated! Thank you!

I have never given the Wavy thingie, any thought,, But still have an opinion, advice, that may help.
There is a thing called a kite, that is attached on a tall pole. It is supposed to deter hawks.
The problem with such,, is its location. If it is in sight of chickens,, it scares the souls out of them as well.
I think the Wavy guy would do same. :idunno

WISHING YOU BET,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome

Thank you for your response and for the welcome message! This is a wonderful community to be part of ☺️

I ordered a 6ft red crazy-wavy guy on Amazon. It’ll be here tomorrow. There were over 1,000 reviews for it and the majority of them were from chicken people who said it’s worked! I am a bit concerned about my girls being afraid if it, so I’m going to set it up at the edge of the woods to begin with. Hopefully it’ll work as well as the Amazon reviewers say it does!

I’m also going to try attracting the crows with peanuts. We have several in the woods and they’re usually good at warning of owls and hawks, but today they were nowhere to be heard or seen. Maybe because it was raining?

Anyhow, thanks again for your response. I’ll keep the kite idea in mind in case the crazy-wavy guy doesn’t work out!

Used too much power. The air all escapes from the head.

I ordered an inflatable costume, which uses a fan that has a USB cable for power. I zip tied the legs around two posts, then Plugged the USB cable up to a small solar panel for charging phones.

It works great. It dances around and has gigantic EYeS. It’s a shark costume. Cost $15 on AliExpress delivered. The solar panel for charging phones was $10.

Couldn’t be happier. Hawks completely left my neighborhood and haven’t seen them in weeks.

I also set up a black bird kite on a 10meter pole. The carbon fiber pole was $20 on AliExpress, looks just like a fishing pole. The kite was $1.50.
