just a quick note --i'm editing this thread title because i tried something in following videos that worked and i'd like to share it , but i'm not changing anything typed earlier
i have a gosling in the process of hatching... i've been 'helping'
... it internally pipped 3 days ago, started to zip withOUT breaking the outer membrane and then stopped... i intervened and broke away some of the shell and pulled the inner membrane a little bit back further to clear the nostrils... as time progressed i kept the membranes lightly misted and only peeling them back as i knew they were vein free... within the past hour i went a little too far with the shell --- it wasn't as ripe as i hoped.... it's pushing to get out of the egg, but i can see a definitively present yellow yolk (not the navel).... it's head and neck are exposed along with toes trying to pull out of the shell... i know it won't be good if he comes out NOW... i have his lower neck and back saran(glad) wrapped around the opposite side of the shell trying to keep it contained while hoping the struggle to get out will help pull the yolk in
... if it breaks free and the yolk is still present, what's the best protocol? thanks for any advice
