just a quick note --i'm editing this thread title because i tried something in following videos that worked and i'd like to share it , but i'm not changing anything typed earlier

i have a gosling in the process of hatching... i've been 'helping'
roll.png
... it internally pipped 3 days ago, started to zip withOUT breaking the outer membrane and then stopped... i intervened and broke away some of the shell and pulled the inner membrane a little bit back further to clear the nostrils... as time progressed i kept the membranes lightly misted and only peeling them back as i knew they were vein free... within the past hour i went a little too far with the shell --- it wasn't as ripe as i hoped.... it's pushing to get out of the egg, but i can see a definitively present yellow yolk (not the navel).... it's head and neck are exposed along with toes trying to pull out of the shell... i know it won't be good if he comes out NOW... i have his lower neck and back saran(glad) wrapped around the opposite side of the shell trying to keep it contained while hoping the struggle to get out will help pull the yolk in

... if it breaks free and the yolk is still present, what's the best protocol? thanks for any advice

IT WORKED!

the saran (glad) wrap and scoth tape held the gosling (a little over half of the body) in the egg shell overnight and it aborbed the yolk sac with a nice clean navel!! .... i took a few videos that i'll post later (i haven't seen how good they are yet, but i don't expect great video results)... was trying to mostly concentrate on the gosling

.... hopefully someone else can benefit this

i tried to edit the post to keep all of the videos in one reply, but i can't.... here's the next 3, and when i can, i'll post more

to hopefully avoid any confusion while watching, i have Suzie helping out (hatched Easter Sunday) in some of the videos, along with the yolkchallenged and it's sister/brother... all 3 are doing GREAT!! ... they seem to enjoy hearing themselves while i play the videos... and i apologize for the too long lapses at times and my mumbling... but hey--- deal with it lol --- seriously, i'm sure someone else can benefit from this!! PEA KATHY--- it should work with our peas too!

That's amazing how well the saran wrap worked .
isn't it tho? i regret not trying it earlier... could've saved quite a few...

here's the videos in chronological order ...FAIR WARNING --- i swear a little in the 3rd to last video (out of frustration) --- i'm including the video because it may be important in helping someone else. .....

also...

-- you should be able to get silver nitrite sticks from a vet or dog groomer(they're primarily used to stop bleeding when dogs nails are clipped too far)

-- i think in the 3rd to last video, you'll see i'm twisting the egg shell in a successful attempt to stop the bleeding out of the other gosling

-- there are 2 goslings i'm working with and a 5 day old one in the videos, but only the one with the yolk problem was saran (glad)wrapped
