Hi, everyone we had a 3 month old baby chick who just suddenly died. She was fine 19:15 and 19:30 she was dead. When I found her she was still warm.
Her throat and her neck and down to the sides of the "krop" was swollen. There was foam coming out of her mouth, but her eyes were perfect. We did a dissection. As we made the incision, she deflated. We noticed that she is covered with yellow matter. Her crop was not inflated, opened, it just showed grass and mealies, it didn't have an odd smell. After dissecting her tummy, it also did not have an odd smell.
Please note yellow markings inside her body and along the skin, everywhere, and it can be seen through her skin aswell. All our chickens eat the same food everyday, she is the only one who died so far. I checked her sisters and brothers, but they show no yellow stuff through the skin like the dead one.
Please see pictures in comment section, they are of the dissection. NOT for sensitive viewers.

It looks like fat to me, could she have died of a heart attack?

I am not a vet, but it sounds as though the chick had a leaking air sac. This can happen from a blow to the neck or chest, and sometimes from an infectious process. When the air is under the skin, it can sometimes be sucked out with a needle and syringe. Or the air can be pressed out through a needle or small knife opening.
