Hello
I have a small backyard flock of 3. 1 silver sebright and 2 Milles Fleur D'uccle/ Silkie crosses.
My sebright (Banty) was always the terror of the henhouse but things had been calm for awhile now. My youngest (Lucy) just started laying last week. Out of nowhere 3 days ago Lucy attacked Banty. Banty did not fight back at all but cowered in fear and then finally ran up into the coop and stayed on the roost most of the day. Every day has been the same. Lucy doesn't want Banty in the run, she doesn't want Banty free ranging in the yard. Banty doesn't have to be anywhere near Lucy for her to attack. As soon as she gets a glimpse of her she will run across the yard to attack her. Is it normal for a hen to suddenly get aggressive because of laying? I am really not sure what to do here because it came out of nowhere. Poor Banty is the saddest little bird ever wandering around by herself trying to stay out of Lucy's sight in the yard.
