Rushdoggie
Songster
So I have 3 hens, a Buff O, an Austrolorpe and an Easter Egger.
All 3 started laying last month, the Buff and Austrolorpe 1st then Ricky my Easter Egger.
Ricky had been laying about 5 eggs a week, and now suddenly hasn't laid since Friday.
I am a bit worried because her last few eggs were not perfectly smooth. Plus, she's always seemed to get a little emotional/anxious before she lays, running around, in and out of the coop, kind of freaking out of someone else was in the nest. Then as soon as she laid, she would settle down.
She's eating normally, I feed them a Purina layer pellet and they usually have access to free range a couple of hours a day. I made them stay in the coop/run the last few days in case she was sneaking off to lay elsewhere.
Shes not squatting or walking funny, and she was happy to eat a mealworm treat from me today.
Should I worry?
She's my favorite pet and such a sweetheart. I'd feel awful if something happened to her I could have prevented.
