Suggest for duck run!

Hello everyone…
I have a question… any suggestions for our duck run? We have pine shave in their duck coop but the ground is completely wet. I was thinking rocks but I’m not sure.. there poop everywhere and I don’t want them to walk around with poop and wet ground. They don’t have a very large area for right now. I want to built more on their run later. We just got the coop built last weekend.

I have a concrete platform under where my duck cage it's easy to spray down and I can put hay or shavings on top I've also heard gravel and sand bases can be good options

I use a mixture of construction sand and pea gravel and some places like around pools I use boat carpet

If you can have a covered run, that is ideal, as it won't get wet. I use rounded pebble gravel around my ducks pool in their run and I spray it down every day so it stays clean. On the other half of the run I have pine shavings so they have a soft ground to lay on and be easy on their feet. I scoop poop out of the shavings every day. I think getting a covered run is the biggest thing to make it easy on you.

Ours is half and half. Their coop is covered then the other part is uncovered. That’s smart doing it half and half with the pebbles and shavings..
