We just finished our run and have read so many different opinions on what to use on the floor. We are in Los Angeles so very little rain and the run is located under a large oak tree so it gets filtered sun throughout the day. We have the entire run covered in chicken wire - even the floor but it has about 8-10 inches of packed dirt on top right now. We care less about using this as compost since we already have a nice compost set up. Should we use wood chips and dried leaves or straw - a combo of all 3? Appreciate any insight.

my birds seem to like wood chips best. Since you don't have much rain should be okay to mix. The birds like variety but the wood chips would breakdown slower and not need as much replenishing.
