suggestions on a rooster

ive lost a couple of hens to a fox and now im looking to get a couple of roosters to defend my flock...does anyone have any suggestions on a good breed that will defend a flock...i was thinking about a black jersey giant cuz of there size but not sure...any suggestions

Doesn't really matter the breed, they either have the instinct to protect or to wimp out. Just from my own observations.

My husbands friend who raised chickens for 20 yrs and lived were predators were abundant swears that a African Gray Goose is the best protector of the flock, better than the King Rooster. He apparently lost several one year, went out and bought this goose and swears that he never lost any more to predators. Of course the goose was totally free ranged at all times. Thought I just pass this along.

I will be having rooster tryouts at my house soon...I apparently have 3 now and never really considered a rooster, but after reading all the cool stories about them defending and keeping the girls, "in line", I will be keeping at least one if not two...I have 3 EE roos...not sure how they will work out, but we will see...I think it just depends on the bird...some will and some won't...I hope one of mine is waht I want!
