Hi everyone! I've ordered my chicks, and they are expected to come mid-May! This has been a dream I've had for YEARS! My husband and I (with the help of a neighbor's daughter) built a stall for one of our horses last year. We have a great, old cinderblock barn, and we never use this particular stall. We thought it would make a great chicken coop! We will add a screened door on top of the existing stall door and add hardware cloth to the top of the stall walls. We have a resident hawk, some owls and cats in our barn, so I am going to make this chicken coop Ft. Knox! I plan on making 2 perches. This stall/coop is 10x12, so I've got 120 sq feet for 9 hens. There is also a external door that leads out to the horse pastures. I plan on putting a stall guard on the door to prevent the nosey horses from coming in the coop. But at the same time, allowing my girls time outside. I couldn't figure out where to post pics, so they are on my Uploads page. Let me know what you think, any suggestions will be welcomed!
