sulfadimethoxine

Hi--I am confused and looking for help! One of my chickens has a respiratory issue and the vet recommended that I use sulfadimethoxine for 5 days. This is a laying hen and the instructions say not to use on chickens over 16 weeks old (?) So if I do, when can you eat the eggs again?

scroll down for withdrawal period for slaughter in chickens- if you could eat the meat then I personally would assume you could eat the eggs (but really it is a personal decision).

Sulmet is given sometimes for Coryza. It's not really approved for laying hens, but most folks give it two to four weeks withdrawal time.

Sulmet is sulfamethazine, not sulfadimethonxine. The latter has the brand names of Albon and DI-METHOX.
