I just acquired a young Sultan and I noticed when I first got him that the feathers on each wing near where his wings attach to his body were sort of sticking out/curling out. I thought the feathers got twisted maybe in the effort to corral and transport him. It has been a week and the feathers are sticking out more. Is this a normal look for this breed?
First picture is how it looked when I first got him and the second shows him from the back but you can see the feather sticking out. I can try and get some better pics tomorrow but both sides have this same look of the curling feather sticking out.

I thought that too. Im not worried just curious.
Here are some pics I just took. The last one is the best as it shows both feather protrusions. I read up on Sultans and didnt read anything about such feathering attributes.

I felt them and they feel very still and hard almost like they are attached to a bony protrusion.

In any case, they are not loose at all so I doubt they are signs of molting.

Too young for a molt I think. He is just making exploring attempts to crow.

No its not normal, but its nothing life threatening either. He may molt it out and grow in a new feather just like it. Or the new feather may be normal.

OK, I dont really care one way or the other as long as he is healthy. Im not raising him for show, just providing him a home. I just wondered if I was missing something in my reading up on Sultans.

OH that is just what my guy looks like. Those false feather wings never went away like others suggested. Instead they became more visible.
