Soon enough I'm cleaning out the DLB method and need ideas for bedding in the heat. pretty much anything to prevent heatstroke as my first summer there was a lot of heatstrokes but we made it through.

I have never associated bedding, with heatstroke.
If you are searching for bedding in your run, I suggest using sand, and during high temps, wet the sand. The evaporation will lower the temperature of the sand.
Inside your coop, use shavings, or hay, and not very deep. When soiled, just remove, and replace.
I use hay inside coop. I use lawn grass clippings in my run area. I do not use pesticides on my lawn for 2 reasons. I have chickens, and I have small children on the lawns. I also do keep pet dogs and cats.
I have other suggestions to prevent chickens from overheating during HOT summer. Ventilation,,,,, cross breeze type. Shade,,,, and use misters if things get really HOT.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Bedding has nothing to do with heat issues.

What you need is LOTS and LOTS of 24/7/365 VENTILATION. 1 square foot per adult, standard-sized hen is the recommended minimum. My rule of thumb is that if I put my head into the coop on a hot, sunny day and it's hotter in than out I need more ventilation.

In New Jersey's humid climate I absolutely do not recommend wetting down your coop bedding. That would just increase the misery by making it overheated and HUMID. Remember, dry chickens are healthy chickens.

Can you show us pictures of your coop and run so we can make specific suggestions?

we added more ventilation after that summer ended. I now have a window that one side opens to a screen that I will keep open during hot days. Their run is dirt and they hate misters but They are older now so I will try that. Would it be okay for a silkie to get wet during the hotweather? they also have an ad for the coop as it's much bigger now and will have space to be away from each other at night.

Misters are great in arid areas but worse than useless in humid areas.

@aart 's link above is critical information. :)
