It’s been really hot lately and I decided to make my girls some frozen treats with some scraps I had laying around. They loved it so I thought I’d share!
Ingredients:
3 cups of Swiss chard
1 dry pint of blueberries
1/2 a cup of broccoli
1/2 a cup of watermelon
1/4 a cup of watermelon juice
1/5 a cup of water
1/4 a cup of mealworms
I put this all in a blender (except the mealworms) and blended it up until it was chopped up but small chunks were still visible.
I used a plastic egg carton and used the lid (which was flat) and the bottom with the indents to hold the eggs to put the mix into. I filled the containers half full, sprinkled on mealworms and covered them up with more mixture.
If there isn’t enough water for it to freeze in solid blocks, you may have to add more. I had to add a little bit after putting it in the containers.
You can use whatever containers, however. You could also run a string through the mix before freezing for hanging purposes, however I didn’t have any string on me at the time. I attached pictures of the frozen treats and the containers. The chickens were unsure at first but loved them after a bit of encouragement!
