Sun or shade

The sun is more available in the winter. The chicken coop door and enclosed run will be on the right side of the coop. We are only using the back 1/3 of the shed for the coop. Direction is south. We are keeping the shed doors open during the day to allow plenty of light and ventilation. There is too much predator pressure to allow for free range. Also, we do not have any guard animals.
Are there any windows in the coop section?
How big will the run be and will it come towards the front of the shed?
Maybe take down a few smaller trees on the front right side of shed to allow ore light in the the run area.

We do have a window (24”x30”). The run will be at least 12x12 (possibly larger if trees permit). Yes, some smaller trees will be removed. Thanks for your wisdom and time.

Our chicken coop is in a wooded area. Cleared land is across a drainage ditch. How much sun do chickens need?
In summer…it’s nice for there to be shade to keep the coop a bit cooler. But in Missouri…that could be relative. Winter is a time of year where a bit of sunshine in appreciated, towards warming things a bit.

If possible, locate the coop where it will be shaded during the heat of summer, and as the sun drops lower in the sky during winter, the sun’s rays can hit the coop for a few hours, to warm things up.
