Sunflower Seeds

Can you feed chickens whole sunflower seeds. My dad gave me a back for my birds but most of them are gone so i was wondering if my chickens could eat them.

Yes. I put the whole flower in the run and they go crazy over it.

The black oil sunflower seeds are especially good for them.

Sunflower seeds are about 16% protein, much higher than normal scratch so it's a good treat for growing birds, laying and broody hens. Also, the oil content will help warm them during the winter.
