Super Large Chick

That's a Cornish X! I have about 40 right now; 1 wk old, 3 wks old and 6 wks old. I recognize that spotty feathering. Pretty soon, you'll notice that its legs and feet are going to grow to cartoonish thickness and it will waddle when it walks in order to keep its weight centered over its widely spaced legs.

They're happy, easy-going birds but pure gluttons and are literal poop factories.
OK... certainly sounds like "mellow yellow". Those feet! cartoon-ish is the perfect description. And poop factory... spot on. I guess it could be a cornish x but I really don't remember seeing that breed at the store. But is entirely possible.

How old are they?
Do you have your coop built yet?
I've had them going on 3 weeks, add a week-ish between hatching, transport, sitting in the store ... so I'd put them almost 4 weeks?

And yes, the coop is built and ready... did that before building the brooder box. :)

Good job. You might want to think about covering that outer area with half inch hardware cloth to make it predator proof.

Your big guy...can you get a clear picture of him?

Do you have any pics you could share of your 3 week old chicks?

I'm pretty sure it's a cornish x. That's ok... Some of the chicks we bought were straight run and I'm not really interested right now in breeding so you know where those roos are gonna end up.

From a predator standpoint, our biggest risk is racoon, coyote and we've spotted a badger on the trail cam way out in the woods. I think we're good on that front, but thanks for the suggestion. But we will see I guess. Never fails, even with the bird feeders, when you think it's good, something figures out a way to get at it. 🤷‍♀️

Racoons stick their grubby paws through the wires to snatch chickens and try to pull them through. Bad things can happen that's why it was mentioned to put smaller wire along the bottom few feet of the run.

agree with the others, almost certainly a Cx.

You have a little butterball for your freezer camp soon.

Its a breed virtually every TSC seems to bring in with each order - the most popular meat birds - and even if they thought they were sold out, and that stock tank empty, it would not be unheard of for a TSC employee to accidentally place a Cx in the wrong stock tank after showing it to a customer, or if a customer changed their mind after selection, but before the register...

Also agree re: hardware cloth to frustrate the trash pandas.
