We have 9 chickens who are about 24 weeks old, and today we got 9 eggs.
Now, that may not seem so exciting, except yesterday we had 7 eggs.
And the day before that, we had 8 eggs! And the day before that, it was 7.
In fact, for the past few weeks, we haven't had a day with less than 7 eggs
and now today, a whopping 9! Now, I'll admit, I spoil these girls:
they have an amazing diet and they rule the roost,
but doesn't that seem like a lot of eggs for them to be pumping out?
I'd read that each hen would lay an egg every other day or so --
but with these numbers, some of my girls have to be laying an egg a day!
(Not that I'm complaining, don't get me wrong, I'm just perplexed.)
Anyone else have super-producers like this?

Well, I can't wait for all 23 of mine to start laying then. I have three layers. One just started today but from the other 2 I've been getting small pullets eggs every day since Monday.

Shrader, that's about right for hens of that age that are well taken care of.
Their 1st laying year is best in terms of numbers.
Their 2nd & 3rd years show a decrease in numbers, but an increase in average egg size.

Thanks Spot! I'm certainly excited about all the eggs (as are my friends and neighbors -- as much as I love them, I can't eat all the eggs myself!)
