I have a six year old Buff Orpington in congestive heart failure. Any ideas on supplements I should give her?
Giving her Magnesium, Potassium, Vitamin C, Garlic and/or Cayenne Pepper are a few of my ideas.
She's still being her happy chicken self, but I can tell she has some discomfort and I'd like to help my girl out.
Thanks in advance!

I had a huge Blue Partridge Orpington in heart failure. She'd just pass out and go THUMP on the floor, passed away this year at 8 years old. I didn't do any supplements for her, just made sure she had some nice soft protein like scrambled eggs in her last weeks. I'm not much help with this because I just rarely supplement anything other than maybe a drop or two of Polyvisol without iron for birds ailing from just about anything, basic supportive care. Garlic is fine for her, of course-I've been known to add minced garlic to the soft foods I give from time to time, maybe a baby aspirin in case of pain. I don't think anything will fix heart failure, of course. Others may have a different opinion.

I'm so sorry for your hen. At least she's not in that pickle anymore.

Scrambled eggs is a good idea. I'll make her some with cayenne and garlic. Thank you!
