Supposed to be Silver Lakenvelders...

We ordered a couple silver lakenvelders from Hoover's Hatchery, along with a bunch of other chicks. We have identified every other breed, so that only leaves these black chicks as possible lakenvelders. The pictures of the lakenvelder chicks online show more white than these babies have, but there are some darker ones, so we just thought that's what they were, until one of them started getting brown barring on its wings. Now, we're stumped. Marans? That's about the only other thing we can think of, but these babies don't have feathered legs. (Although I know some marans don't have leg feathers...) Single combs...

I've had Lakenvelder chicks that were dark like that, but they never had brown barring. What other breeds did you get?

I don't think the color of their legs is right for lakenvelders either, is it? The other chicks we got were a dark brahma, spitzhaubens, bluebell eggers, calico princess, and two Polish.
