Last year we built a coop elevated 2.5' above the ground. With it being such a wet year, sometimes the rains are just ridiculous. Last night we got almost 3" of rain over a few short hours. So, buckets of water were running through the yard towards the farmers field, but the slope is a gentle slope - we are not on a hill. There was a good 6" deep of water flowing through the one end of the run, and even was running under part of the coop! Can't imagine if we placed the coop on the ground.

Obviously we need to put some work into diverting water away from that side of the run. But, so much rain these last 9 months!

Whew!
No Coop Page?!

No. But, maybe I’ll have to do that!

Good thing the run is basically a deep litter -no standing water once the rain stopped and the water could move out/soak in. It did move around the deep litter a bit!

Hi, from NE Ohio!
Ugh!!!!! The rain!!!!! :he This is our first year with chickens. It’s been awful!!! It’s literally rained for 2 months straight, with no sign of letting up!

My husband built a make shift chicken tractor out of desperation, that we put our 4 girls in daily. It isn’t finished and is upside down in the pics. We have 2 Seabrights so he wanted them to have a tall place to roost.

Our girls really seem to love it out there! I keep telling them they’re chickens, not ducks!!! :D

(nods vigorously)

It took me about a year or two to get all runoff diverted so it would not flood the under-run(run are under the coop) had to bury a pipe and put up some 'retaining walls'.
My run is right where the natural slope carries the run off from the driveway.
