Waddles’ Surfin’ Safari atop the empty water jug is an interesting way to spend your time in search of Good Vibrations for a Waterfowl in the nighttime brooder. Go to sleep, My surfer girl. I wish they could all be california girls. Wouldn’t it be nice?
🏄🏻‍♀️ 🤷🏼‍♂️

any reason why they are still in brooders at that age? i’ve been told to move mine to a bigger pen at 8 weeks, but i’ve seen lots of people use brooders longer? is there any reason why i should be doing it?

Actually I’ve only woken up in the morning with one out of the bin ONCE! Boy was that a surprise to see first thing in the morning!
Lucky. Mine were just determined to not be wherever I wanted them. Out of spite I think and completely regardless of what size container it was or the fact that they didnt actually wanna GO anywhere...they just didnt wanna be IN the thing, had to be out, on principle. I had a big cement mixing tub I wanted to use to keep them in whatever room I was in so they could be near me without running around too much, the very second they grew big enough to hop out of that they did (which took them like 3 days after I got it honestly, i cant believe people manage to keep them in kidding pools and such without any walls)

I moved my two out of their tote and into a big chicken-wire-walled pen in the kitchen at like 2 weeks. Our living room is up a flight of stairs so after dinner I'd pen them up and then go watch some TV till pretty late - they broke me down so much that some nights I didnt even bother penning them up before going upstairs, just left them in their towel pile under the kitchen table and turned the lights off on them. If I put them in their pen which HAS NO WALLS so they could still see everything around them and was only 3 feet away from their spot under the table and left them they'd lose their minds. Let them back out, they'd go back under the table and fall asleep nice and quiet. Or they'd put themselves to bed in the laundry pile in the bedroom. Anything but getting locked in the pen, the big open wire pen was torture
