Surprise chick

Our surprise baby chick, came with our 6 red stars. Been looking at website after website trying to figure out breed and gender if possible at 1 week. This baby has a defined white spot on head, small patch of white on chest and large all white bottom. Beak is flesh color and legs are as well except for last toe on each foot is darker color. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

That looks like a female Barred Rock.

I'm thinking cockerel, although very young. The white foot bottoms could mean Marans, but often times Barred Rocks just don't get the bright yellow legs until a few weeks in, so watch them. Barred Rocks are more common, so that's more likely

I always heard that when the spot on the head blends into the gray it is a female? This would apply to barred rocks of course.

My barred rock had a big spot like that also. Turned out to be a boy.

I don't mean the size. In some of the pics, especially in numbers 2, 6, and 7, you can see that the white kind of runs into the gray. It is not a solid white dot.

I am pretty sure that the solid spot is a female trait... I'm no Barred Rock sexing expert however

I have heard it both ways. What I said above is what I have heard the most, but I could be wrong. I'm no expert either.

I second the Barred Rock hypothesis. My girl had a defined head spot like that and gray washed legs.

Makes me miss the days when she was super tiny!
