Hello! My name is *redacted* and I'm new to the whole chicken ownership thing. Hoping to learn a thing or two to keep my babies happy.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes. Our first chicken flew in to our lives when she smashed into our dining room window on New Years Day, 2022. She just sat outside the window after slamming into it and roosted out in the freezing cold. We brought her in, fed her and jerry-rigged the dog's cage into a makeshift coop and tried to find her owner for about a week. Eventually I built a better coop for inside and moved her in there.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I can't explain it but I love these girls so much and worry about them and care for them and try to make them as comfortable as possible.

Video games, movies, hanging out with my family, writing code
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a software architect in the pacific northwest and I have a beautiful wife and 6yo son. I also have a corgi mix Pembroke/Cardigan who has been a pain in the butt since the chickens showed up.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
It's been my main source for figuring it what's going on and what to do when it came to raising and caring for these girls. Shows up on google first on almost every search lol
