This is my second year of hatching eggs so I'm still very new at this. I expected this clutch to be Bresse, but as you can see, Mother Nature had other plans.

I think he's a rooster, but a positive ID would be appreciated as would any thoughts on genetics.

Possible mothers are lavender Orpington or Bresse. Possible Father's are Bresse, Lavender orp (cuckoo), distant chance of RIR. All parents were hatched here, but all eggs came from backyard flocks, so anything is possible I suppose.

He (or she) pipped and hatched a day ahead of the rest and is head-and-shoulders bigger. I find him very handsome and he is easy to handle.

Too soon to say gender just yet. The chick has a yellow beak and looks to have a yellow tinge on the feet, so I am guessing the RIR must have been the father since Bresse and Orpingtons are both white skinned breeds, and wouldn't show yellow. My guess is RIR x Bresse.
