Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
So my hen decided to run off... or so I thought. She decided to go broody! She hid what she was doing from all of us and she hatched 13 beautiful chicks this morning. I saw 1 chick in the chicken run and I freaked! I didn't know exactly where it came from. But attached to our run is a giant dog house with a open back to the rafters kind of thing. She decided to have them up there. 1 of the babies we did find dead though because it fell out and didn't get warmth or one of the bigger hens probably pecked it to death. I am just so shocked by it all. Shes a black laced mix, and my breeding rooster is a RIR blue audasian mix. I am not sure how but we got bright yellow babies, a lavender, black, and bright orange babies. I am still in so much shock I just needed to tell someone about it lol. I will post pictures soon.
