I have a bantam hen that went broody, so I took the opportunity to order some new bantam chicks. I have read several posts regarding the introduction of new chicks to broody hens so I'm pretty sure how I'm going to handle the situation.
Also, I adopted three older chicks a few months ago (a full size Brahma and two cochins). Since the chochins were much smaller than the Brahma, she literally took the role as the mother. The chicks have slept under her wings (even as recently as two days ago). I am in the process of separating the cochins from the Brahma and she seems so miserable. When I placed my order for the bantam chicks, I also ordered standard size chicks as well, hoping that I can introduce them to the Brahma and she will accept them. Any suggestions on how I can try this? She is a very sweet, meek, and mellow chicken.
