Hi everyone, yet again I have a poorly chook. She is approximately 3 years old. We rescued her about a month back as her previous owner could no longer care for her and her pal. They both seemed healthy and we intergrated them with our other girls, everyone seems happy.
This afternoon I noticed Nugget sitting by the flower pot so I went to offer her treats. She is not normally friendly yet she didn't try and move away.
When I pet her and coaxed her up, she stumbled, using her wings for balance and sat down about 1 Metre away from where she started out.
I immediately set up sick bay inside and she has been there, not eating or drinking, not really moving.
she hasn't pooped and have been inside for nearly 2.5hrs now.
Not puffed up.
Feed is layer pellets and mixed seed with cracked corn as treat.
Not sure when she was last wormed
There has been a guilty party with minimal blood in their poop. Not sure which of our 10 it is so I put treatment for coccidiosis in the water
Previous owner said she stopped laying about 3 months ago now. We are heading into spring - could she be egg bound?
We were also doing some maintenance to the coop and might have dropped a screw or nail - could she have ingested this?

any thoughts or ideas?
Thank you for this website and it's infinite knowledge!

Oh and not sure if it could be related - we had a sick silkie rooster die about 4 months ago of what we suspect was mareks disease. He was about 8 months old.

Incidentally the rescue chickens came from the same breeder that our first 3 silkies including the rooster (the other two mysteriously died also) only 3 years earlier.

UPDATE after nearly 4 hours in sick bay, Nugget has done a poo! Mostly normal looking but has a tinge of blood. Her vent looks ok and I couldn't feel an egg in her abdomen. Still have the medicine for coccidiosis in her water but she still doesn't seem interested.
Hopeshe lasts the night and does better tomorrow.

It's now 15 hours inside and only 3 poops during this time. Runny and still a bit bloody. Might be worth a trip to the vet later

I would guess that she is probably suffering from Mareks disease, especially since you had one earlier who was suspected of having Mareks. The green in her poop is probably from not eating enough. With Mareks, immunity is decreased so common diseases such as coccidiosis can still affect older chickens. New strains that she isn't used to may also be in the soil. Other problems that can cause blood in the stool are enteritis and caplillaria worms. If you are in the US you can have your state vet perform a necropsy on her for Mareks if she dies. Sorry you are dealing with this. Here is some info about Mareks to read:

The green in her poop looks like undigested blades of grass. I could be mistaken. I suspect mareks too, because of the lack of balance. I did a lot if reading when our roo was ill, I was devastated when we lost him. I will see if I can get into our avian bet today. They should be able to eliminate a few things at least.
Thanks for the help and reading.
