I unfortunately have 6 young guineas that were released with my flock and as I predicted my hens and rooster are getting pecked on… mostly just the waddles and not all of them but most…. I medicate at night with vetericyn spray on the waddles…. However, I noticed my Sussex’s eye having some residue around the eye…. And it seems to have gotten worse and of course affects how sees…. Has anyone experienced this before?? And what did you do??

My reading so far suggests isolating her (which I did) and keeping the eye clean with gentle warm cloth…. The next suggestion was antibiotics but I’m not familiar with what kind or how much etc… Is there a way I am able to help flush the eye?? There is no avian vet where I am located.

And YES, I want the guineas moved but don’t have a pen arranged for them as of yet.

You can irrigate the eye with something like saline or Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief Eye Wash twice a day. I get it a Walmart or Walgreens. Then use either Terramycin eye ointment from the feed store, or plain Neosporin/Triple Antibiotic Ointment 2-3 times a day.
