SW Florida "dirt"....Florida peeps???

...Well, its more sand than dirt! Has anyone used it in their runs? or should I just bring in my own sand?

My Dad and I cleared some area in the back to put up a play ground for my son, so I can use what the bobcat pushed out of that area...only thing is, the sand down here is pretty fine...like kids play sand.

to use, or not to use??

Sand + organics = clay-ish stuff that smells when wet and won't drain.

I put in construction sand and it became yucky in about 6 months.

If it can drain well and you remove (I mixed it in instead, I was wrong) the 'organics' that the chickens make it may work.

I was thinking of using the construction sand (from reading other posts about it), putting gravel down then the sand to help with draining...

any better ideas?

Your dirt/sand looks just like the stuff my whole farm is. I love the stuff so do my chickens.
