If my lean is to the right and my convictions proper
I can say just what I like and no one will cry "stop her!"
I'll lift my nose and curl my lip and sneer at your convictions
My words become so holy , my thoughts are an inscription
But if I stand on my own feet without a credo on my sleeve
Every word that issues forth will cause someone to grieve
They will cry foul at every thought that doesnt' match their own
And they won't stop their noise until they know that I am gone
Then they can keep on stifling those who dare to disagree
They'll make sure these folks know that speech is never really free
And those who fear to speak their minds are watching, this I know
They'll keep their ideas to themselves, or be the next to go.
