18 chicken and OF COURSE this happens to my favorite! :(

So, we let a gelding out of his paddock for a short time and he BARRELED into our flock of Swedes and Doms full of stomping hooves and piss n' vinegar. I was livid! My poor little dude was left on the ground completely knocked out. I was 99.9% sure he was dead but when my hubby went to pick him up he pepped up and walked under some shrubbery to lay down.

Here's the damage:
- very lethargic but will stand, walk, and coos to me
- eyes bleeding a little, one side of his head is pretty knocked up where I'm assuming a stray hoof hit during the run and one eye will not open but isn't very swollen
- hasn't eaten or drank, but this literally JUST happened within the hour and he's just very tired so I'm not pushing anything for fear of too much stress and stimulation for a hurt brain
- no open wounds, just little bleeding from eyes
- he's inside a nearly closed cardboard box next to my bed with food and a scrambled egg

Looks like the poor baby is definitely suffering from a concussion. I know head injuries are tricky and there's a good chance this could go either way, but has anyone experienced this with eyes bleeding where the chicken has pulled through? I'm SO UPSET!! This guy is so sweet and SO handsome. He's only around 10 weeks old, he's got so much more living to do! :(

Well, he was alive this morning! Ate, drank, and is back out with the flock in the yard doing chicken stuffs. :D Both eyes are open and working, but his neck seems a little stiff/sore and he's cocking his head to one side more than the other. KEEP IT UP, LITTLE DUDE!
