Received this hen 2 years ago in a Greenfire Farm auction of a dozen Swedish Flowery Hen chicks. She has always stood out from the others because she's the only wheaten colored of them all and she's a bit bigger in size. Just looking at GF's website yesterday, noticed she looks very much like the Sulmtaler hen on their website. Did they get a Sulmtaler in the SFH batch they sent me?
Sulmtaler. Neither color nor shape speak for Swedish Flower.
Edit: I'm not a fan of Sulmtaler looks, but they are supposed to be a good dual purpose bird, which even in Europe are rare. So consider it a nice surprise.
Thank you Anaray, whatever breed she is, she's a good layer and and a good mother. One of my favorites. If I ever see Sulmtalers up for auction on the GF rarebreed site, will definitely try to win the auction.
Sometimes "mistakes" are meant to be.
Their meat is supposed to be exceptional. Not that you want to eat your girl, but if you get your hands on more and breed, the excess roosters will have a purpose.
I say Sulmtaler too. In the stance your hen is pictured, a SFH would look like a U shape whereas Sulmtaler stance is exact of what your girl is. Colour and markings are a dead give away too. Either way she is absolutely gorgeous, very pretty.
