sweet corn silk

i did a search regarding letting my 5 week olds peck at an ear of sweet corn as a treat. o.k., so corn is good. also learned the husks are bad for them to eat, ok. but what about the silk? i gave them some corn silk last night and they loved it, then thought i'd better check here before giving them any more. any thoughts on corn silk? thanx.

Mine eat it, they're alive... but they free range, pick through potato peels, avacado peels, and have eaten stryofoam. Don't need to worry too much.
