Has anyone ever used this stuff? I called my local feed store today about carrying DE but they said that Sweet PDZ is a good substitute. What do you think?

I think it's for horse stalls????

If they can't get you food grade DE, ask for Stall Dry. It seems to be a little more common. Basically it's DE with clay.

Sweet PDZ is sold as a stall deodorizer. It contains DE and is safe for the birds. I use it in my coop and run to help with the odor, keeping it dryer around the waterer and so forth.

Could you explain what DE( is it diatemacous earth?) is and PDZ?

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a natural grade freshwater diatomite. Mixed in their bedding, it kills insects (like leg mites), and added to their feed helps prevent internal parasites. The food grade is natural and non-toxic.

PDZ is a natural volcanic substance known as Zeolite and is used for ammonia absorption and odor neutralization.

I love it, it keeps the odor down and doesn't hurt the birds at all. I haven't been able to find DE locally yet but even after I do I will still use it.
