Something i’ve notice that is different from chickens is how much quail poop. Mine seem to poop triple the amount my full grown laying hens do. I currently use hay but I pretty much have to change it every 2 days and I stay busy and don’t have a lot of extra free time to do it as often as I like. Can sweet Pdz be the bedding? Or does it have to be mixed? Is it safe for them?

I'm not sure about that. I do have a suggestion though. How much space do your quails have and how many do you have? If you can, giving them a little more space would help. This would mean you wouldn't have to clean their enclosure as often

Hay is nasty with quail, as you seem to have discovered, too. I switched to shavings, using the deep litter method. (I also don't overcrowd.) So, with the deep litter, during hot months, I clean half the cage every 2 weeks (so once a month in the hot months, the whole cage is cleaned.) When I do a half, I will sprinkle a little of the Sweet PDZ on the bared flooring of the cage, and cover with some of the litter from the other side. Quail are not bright, so I don't want them to eat it, thus it gets well covered. (In the colder months, I clean the cage only rarely, and it really doesn't stink.)

I’ll take a pic of their enclosure today I don’t think they’re overcrowded (but please tell me if you think they are) I have about 20 hens (not an exact count)

How big is the cage? It looks busy rather than crowded to me (I hope that makes sense?) What do you use for bedding? How thick is it? What I would do is put down about 4 inches of something (shavings, shredded mulch, whatever) and throw things in to get them to scratch around in it. Then, rather than clean it, I would stir it up a little then add more shavings/mulch on top. You may have to clean it every couple weeks after that, but not every other day. Also, since you have so much vertical space, you could add a pyramid of cinder blocks or bricks or even a picnic table type of thing (allowing under and over space.) Just an idea! It is a pretty setup, btw.

Do you have the dimensions? If you think they have enough space, you don't have to worry about that. Maybe different bedding could help.
