Sweetpea the Tame Button Quail

Sweetpea is 6 weeks old and was the only chick in her clutch to hatch so she bonded to me. She lives with an older brother now and bosses him around but she is still my little cuddly friend.

Sweetpea is now sexually mature and... it is not button quail boys she is into.

It's me! when I come by she paces and calls out in joy and if I open the cage she practically lays down on the floor and does the mating posture. I'll usually kinda cup my hand over her back and that'll satisfy her. She is so sweet but just is not good at being a quail. I decided to separate her from her brother as she got older and began to brutalize him, but she is now quite fine living with her mother after I split the flock of buttons by sex. She had no time for males bothering her whatsoever but Mom minds her own business and Sweetpea does fine with her.

She's a weirdo but i love her!
