how deep should my ducks pool be?

when young ducklings they can get wet and water logged very quickly because they haven't begun to use their oil gland yet which make their feathers water repellent so very important unless with mama duck always be with them when playing in water. I usually give mine to start off with a plastic litter pan[cat] and add about half way with water making sure they can get in and out easy. now they are 8 weeks old and using a rubber cement mixing pan. they have been using this since 5weeks. They haven't been in the big pool yet.
