So everyone that has, or has had in the past tell me about your swinehoe pheasants. Must they be kept alone or are they friendly with other phesants/birds? How are they in winter? What else should a guy know about them ? We currently have a pair of red/gold pheasants, but my son is wanting some swinhoe. Thanks

With any gamebirds, it's best to keep them with their own kind. That having been said, I do run some quail (Bobwhite) and pheasants in the same enclosure. It really just depends on the individual birds behavior. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...trial and error type situation.
Swinehoes can handle below freezing temps if they have access to shelter, dry enclosure and free of drafts. They are not that hard to raise. They need a complete and balanced feed ration of 24% protein, clean, fresh water and plenty of shade in the summer.
