This is my second year hatching chicks in an incubator. I had been using Nutrena chick starter for my chicks until a couple weeks ago when I switched to a 28% Game bird starter. I just wanted to see what would happen. Well, it is too soon to tell about growth rates, but one thing that is very clear, they eat way less. With 18% Nutrena starter, my chicks ate almost constantly. The would consume huge amounts of crumbles every day. Now with this 28% Game bird starter, I almost never see them eating. It is flat amazing how little they are eating now. I mean, it is like a quarter to a third of what they would be eating if I were feeding them the 18% crumble. The 28% gamebird starter is $22 a bag vs $18 a bag for the 18%, but I think I am actually saving money by using it.

Has anyone else had this experience?
