Switching chick grit for adult grit

I think that I would make the switch when their size is close to grown. I wouldn't worry about giving them grit that is to large. They will only eat the size that is appropriate.

Glad to help and thanks. I keep changing it and have had a lot of fun with it. It started a couple of threads where I have meet some really nice people.

I switched from chick grit to #2 size grit at about 10 weeks. I wanted to buy a 50lb bag because it was so much more economical per pound. I asked at a couple of feed stores and they said it was fine to switch at 10 weeks. Both of them have knowledgeable chicken staff on hand. And if they were just trying to make a profit they would have been pushing the small expensive bags of chick grit. That was about a month ago and I have not had any problems. They have consumed some of it (probably 1 - 2 pounds). I feed them lots of green material (weeds and grass clippings). I also feed them some table scraps.
