Swollen breast on hen (one side)

I know folks who keep fresh eggs on the countertop in the kitchen for a couple of weeks and still eat them but I am a bit wary of that sort of thing... refridgerated eggs should be fine for 4-6 weeks easily and some folks use them longer!

That is what I thought exactly....

Thanks

I've been eating Obelisk's eggs from last June. The whites are rather stiff, but they still look, smell and taste fine. I used them for scrambled and use the newer ones for fried.
they've been refrigerated since they were laid and the cartons are under the vegetable crisper which MAY be keeping them fresher longer.

Dennis, if you ever have the opportunity to have a naked neck hen, you'll crack up when you see her go from a double D cup in the eve. to an A cup in the morning...

I've never had any problems with my eggs going bad, even after a week of room temp. (Unless of course it's the middle of the summer and I stumble onto a hidden nest....bleagh) I do wash mine (the ones for eating) if they're soiled with just plain tepid water and a light scrub.... The ones I plan on hatching don't get washed....

Wow...that's really making thigs last....I give you credit for that....we'll never have them here that long...the kids love eggs (as well as the wife and I) and the rest of the family is already buzzing.....I'll have to have my daughter make a sign "donations for feed excepted in exchange for eggs"
