How large can a chickens crop get. I have a 16 month old chicken with a very large breast, almost the size of a softball. It is very soft, almost like it is full of water. I don't see a scratch for infection but she is missing feathers on her breast. she is very lethargic and was crouched in a corner before I moved he to a private coop. I have had compacted crop before and I don't feel anything in her crop. she has been eating grower since she was in with a mother her chicks and a rooster.

Thank you,
I turned her upside down and did get her to throw up a very runny milk like substance. she seems to be doing better. I will keep that up for a few days.
Some sites say add cider vinegar (or garlic) to their water. others say not to. any thoughts?

Since I haven't treated for this I would go for the most popular way. Some swear by the vinegar, some say it will make it worse. The garlic, I don't think is really that common--most people use that more for worms and general health. I would probably stick with yogurt and olive or vegetable oil.

She seems to be fine now, although lonely I am sure. She is eating and has the energy to jump to a three foot perch. I have her isolated. Now what about reintroducing her to the flock? I can keep her here forever but is loneliness a going to be a problem?
