I have a 4 mo old Ameraucana Pullet with a swollen smushy crop. I've attempted to "make her vomit" I've given her olive oil w a syringe Every other day 3Xs and had her seperate for 5 days with a little crumble and lots of chick grit. She is not acting ill, but her color is pale and she is not as active as usual. It feels compacted tonight. Im not sure whatelse to do and our local vet doesnt treat chickens. I'd appreciate any help to save my chick.

For sour crop- separate hen, 24 hours with no food only water with 1/4 teaspoon of acidified copper sulfate (comes in powder form usually at feed store) in a gallon in plastic waterer only. If you can't find that, use 2 tablespoons of organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar in the plastic gallon waterer changed daily. Day two add only plain yogurt. Day three add plain scrambled egg to the yogurt. Each day massage the crop several times each day pushing toward the back of the crop, not upward. Day 4 maybe some soupy oatmeal added to eggs and yogurt, but no grains. Don't make throw up that can kill them. Good luck.

For Impacted crop- give olive oil.

Hi, I can help you somewhat as one of my hens died due to this and a few other things. Basically, make sure your chicken has been wormed/demite'd, isn't sneezing. See if she's very very sleepy and unbalanced.

If not eating or drinking and looks uneasy on feet, antibiotics ASAP and force feed olive oil (we put rice mixed wih it). Ours had impacted crop.

Also check sinus' as I think this is what did mine in in the end.

HTH and good luck!
