I'm new to this and need a little advice. Does this hen's eye look swollen to any of you? She's a lavender orpington we just picked up from another flock, we were told she was being bullied and was the roosters favorite. She also has black spots on her comb that I'm hoping are just scabs and not small bugs or from some type of mite. Any advice appreciated,TIA!

It doesn’t appear very swollen to me, not enough to worry about. If it looks more swollen, look for any bubbles or foam in the eye. The black specks could be pecks or even fly bites.

Hi, it could be a mild form of dry fowl pox transmitted by mosquitoes. Look at this blog post by Lisa Steele, it is very similar to your bird. I recommend Terramycin but you need a vet prescription (or you can purchase it for pigeons on Jedds)

I am having this with my chickens and have learned a lot about it. It took me a really long time and a ton of tests to figure it out. Hope this helps. BTW most of my chickens that were affected ended up being totally fine, but for my rooster he got a subsequent eye infection that was severe.
